Japan just after the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War. A family has been living peaceful days, but their fate changes when a man who claims to be an old friend of the owner's visits them. Director Henry Tsukamoto paid particular attention to everything from the characters' clothing to the props, and he succeeds in expressing the modern atmosphere of the early Showa period. (1994)
