Nana has been married into a family of the Aida school of the Sagawa school of tea ceremony for two years. After getting married, she studied the art of tea and was finally recognized as a full-fledged tea master, and was allowed to train under the head of the school, Sagawa Ginji. On the day of the ceremony, Nana serves tea to Ginji, but she is so nervous that she accidentally breaks a tea bowl that is a family heirloom. Ginji is still angry at Nana, who apologizes profusely, and proposes that he will forgive her if she stays overnight for training. Nana agrees, but Ginji suddenly orders her to take off her kimono, saying, "I will teach you the true essence of the tea ceremony."
