Since divorcing her husband, Rie has been raising her son Akira on her own. Although financially and otherwise life has never been easy, mother and son have lived together, supporting each other. Akira has always seen Rie's struggles, and perhaps because of that, he has never gone through a rebellious phase and has grown into a kind, caring son who Rie is proud of.
