Kumajiro, a peddler, travels all over Japan, working as a street vendor, going wherever the wind takes him. He comes across a mysterious beauty named Izumi, who is traveling alone, when he comes to a hot spring inn deep in the mountains. Kumajiro sympathizes with Izumi 's unfortunate situation and offers her a helping hand. Touched by Kumajiro's warmth, Izumi is drawn to Kokoro . On the way, the two get caught up in various events, but gradually they grow closer, and finally they are united... but then their separation comes suddenly.
