Since her husband passed away, Yuka, a mother, has been living alone with her son Yugo. Working hard on her own, Yugo has grown up healthy and become a student with the potential to enter a top university. From now on, all her hard work will pay off, and once Yugo enters the workforce, a happy life will be waiting for him...or so it seemed. In the summer before Yugo's graduation next year, the Mizuno parents meet with Oshima, his homeroom teacher, for a career consultation. After a promising three-way meeting, Yuka is left alone in the classroom and told that there is a problem with Yugo's further education.
