Worried about his mother-in-law Hana, who is now a widow and living alone in the countryside, Ataru visits her parents' home with his wife. He is relieved to see Hana welcoming the two of them and acting strong-willed, but his natural expression, which he occasionally glimpses, seems lonely. Hana's sad expression is seductive, and even though he knows it's wrong, Ataru can't help but feel the sex appeal of a widow. Hana's desires, which have left her husband and nowhere to go, unconsciously captivate Ataru.
